Aru has a great start, the race is already hot

Planche des Belles Filles (FRA): At 2,400 meters from the arrival, the group still riding at a crazy rate. Gerrain Thomas had yet to go into action to give the latest sprint in favor of Chris Froome but at that point Fabio Aru placed his shot, a bit to pride and a bit to test the resistance of the opponents. And then the surprise, the Villacidro’s Sardinian broke all the tactics of super-programmed athletes from the UK SKY team.

Here, on this finish line, Vincenzo Nibali, a friend of Aru, had also won. Today Pedal-Aru, after a difficult time of sacrifices and the suffering of not being part of the Giro that starts from his land, took the most beautiful revenge by becoming one of those runners able to win stages at all the Great Tour (Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta de Espana).

No calculation and no control at the power meter, toward redemption and glory and an unexpected polka dot jersey. Several big riders give up, either Nairo Quintana and Alberto Contador are between them.

« A fantastic success – Aru’s comment – with a jersey, the one reserved to Italian champion, which I really enjoy so much. »

Impressive are the Aru data in the last 5 km. Its climbing time was 13’18 « at a speed of 22,560 km / h, with a VAM of 1917 (average ascending speed) and an average power of approximately 460 watts, or around 7.4 watts / kg.

Now he took the third place just 14 » from the yellow jersey that went over the shoulders of Froome.

Friday 7th July: Troyes – Nuits Saint Georges – Km 213,5

This stage will go through the wonderful Borgogne vineyards and it shouldn’t be missed by the sprinters, even if the last 40 km are suitable for echelons.
