This stage will start from Valdengo (Biella), starting point of the Giro even in 2014. The first 150 km are completely flat with the usual city center pitfalls (roundabouts, traffic divider etc). This could be a pitfall stage thanks to the last kilometers, with the climbs of Miragolo San Salvatore (new climb for the Giro) and Selvino (last GPM here were in 1995 and saw the success of Tony Rominger). Leaving Selvino the roads follows a long descent with bends and then the last 9 kilometers approaching finish line. The most beautiful one is perhaps the come back of Marco Pantani in 1999 which start the climb in last position after the famous chain brake.
