TRAIN IN POWER. WHY?

TRAIN IN POWER. WHY?

The question a cyclist asks is: why have you been training in power for a few years? The use of watts is not a prerogative reserved for a well-defined sports elite, but it is an advantage for all cyclists and not only. Training with watts means relying on a scientific data that does not undergo subjective variables that intervene when training for example based on heart beats. What can these variables be? High temperature, a psychological stress condition (personal reasons, disappointments, work concerns) and substances such as caffeine that can have a major impact on heart activity and thus provide unreliable indications. For this reason, you use a tool like […]

THE INSIDIES OF YATES, THE STRENGTH OF FROOME THE CALCULATIONS OF DUMOULIN. WHAT AN AMAZING TOUR!

THE INSIDIES OF YATES, THE STRENGTH OF FROOME THE CALCULATIONS OF DUMOULIN. WHAT AN AMAZING TOUR!

MONTE ZONCOLAN: Chriss Froome goes up, but Simon Yates does not go down. Tom Dumoulin resists, he deeply resists. The Giro d’Italia is beautiful, very beautiful. The Monte Zoncolan has not left great detachments, it is not crucial but it leaves so many toxins in the legs. And now, they start again and get closer to Trentino for the Trento-Rovereto time trial. There are several hints of interest in the fight for the pink shirt. It will be definitely interesting to see Simon Yates’ reaction in the third week. The Englishman could live his first time as the undisputed protagonist, with all the stress that concerns it. Every day the […]

HOW STRONG IS MOHORIC?

HOW STRONG IS MOHORIC?

IMOLA: How strong is Matej Mohoric? Many people have asked themselves this question in these days at the Giro d’Italia. During the stage at Imola, he was ready to help the leader Domenico Pozzovivo, who was lingering on a hard day due to the rain. Coming back in the group, Mohoric has launched an attack together with the Colombian Carlos Betancour. After the victory in spring at the GP Industria e Artigianato and the victory at the 10th stage of the Giro in Gualdo Tadino, he must have tought that it could have been another good day. The legs were strong, but that bit of final indecision made the sprinter […]

A PARADISE FOR SKIERS, A POSSIBLE NIGHTMARE FOR CYCLIST

ORTISEI: After the very high Lombardy mountains, the Giro ride a resistance stage like the one in Canazei where the group have been riding for almost six hours, and now the scenarios change once again. Starting from Moena, in Val di Fassa, after 137 kilometers the Giro arrive at Ortisei – St Ulrich after five great mountain pass (Pordoi Pass, Pasparal Pass, Passo Gardena, Passo Pinei and Pontives’ final climb) and an intense effort. An attack brought by his opponents to see if it was possible to gain […]

#INGIRO: THE HAT TRICK OF STELVIO

#INGIRO: THE HAT TRICK OF STELVIO

Welcome to the stage of the truth. Maybe we won’t found today who will win this Giro but surely we will know who will be excluded from the struggle for success.  Until today it seems to be a fight between three riders: Quintana, the one who started this Giro as favorite for the final victory, Dumoulin, the one who is so strong that he didn’t even expect to be, and the last one, the champion, Vincenzo Nibali, the one who in the third week of 2016 Giro managed to bring home the success when it seemed to be already lost.  The length of this stage is a feared ones, 254 […]

A FINISH LINE LIKE THE GIRO OF LOMBARDIA

This stage will start from Valdengo (Biella), starting point of the Giro even in 2014. The first 150 km are completely flat with the usual city center pitfalls (roundabouts, traffic divider etc).  This could be a pitfall stage thanks to the last kilometers, with the climbs of Miragolo San Salvatore (new climb for the Giro) and Selvino (last GPM here were in 1995 and saw the success of Tony Rominger). Leaving Selvino the roads follows a long descent with bends and then the last 9 kilometers approaching finish line. Last kilometers pass through Bergamo Alta, climbing to Porta Garibaldi and then, after 200m in cobbled area, to Largo Aperto. Cycling fans […]

#INGIRO STAGE BETWEEN LEGENDS: FROM COPPI TO PANTANI

#INGIRO STAGE BETWEEN LEGENDS: FROM COPPI TO PANTANI

This stage of the Giro will start from Castellania, the city where is born Fausto Coppi and finish at Oropa Sanctuary, location famous for many beautiful stages. The most beautiful one is perhaps the come back of Marco Pantani in 1999 which start the climb in last position after the famous chain brake. Although the handicap Pantani was able to come back to group and then overtake even the frenchman Laurent Jalabert the last one to surrender. Another historical race in Oropa saw the success of Latvian Piotr Ugrumov, one of the very few who could leave behind Miguel Indurain. This stage is very short and is clearly made by […]

Don Camillo, Peppone… and Guccini

Don Camillo, Peppone… and Guccini

After the third wins of Fernando Gaviria the new stage is totally plain. The Giro leave the city where the italian flag was born, to go to the villages sung by the italian songwriter Francesco Guccini, through the via Emilia and Statale 9. A green landscape with a nostalgic taste remembering tv star like Don Camillo and Peppone. A place where farmers were mixed with modern factory like Ducati, a plus in the made in Italy. The Giro cross the whole Pianura Padana and in the last kilometers go through the same road of the Spring World Cup, the Milano – Sanremo passing by Liguria. Finish line is in Tortona, a city that until […]
