It was an attacking day for Wilier – Triestina that showed his fighting spirit in the 6th stage of Giro d’Italia with Eugert Zhupa that collected over 145 kms of breakaway altought a stage not suitable to his characteristics.
After a first attempt of Daniel Martinez in the very beginning of the stage, it was the time of Eugert Zhupa who attacked together with Alessandro Bisolti and Alexandr Kolobnev before being caught by Pim Ligthart, Laurent Didier and the winner Tim Wellens.
Zhupa held on on the first climb, the Bocca della Selva, trying to leave his breakaway companions at the bottom of the final climb of Roccaraso but his action ended with 3 kms to go.
Tomorrow 211 kms from Sulmona to Foligno with a final all to discover.
