WELLNESS, THE FIRST STEP
Wellness in everyday life Anxiety, stress and frenetic rhythms. This is what today’s society imposes on us. Just maintaining a healthy VTA style in these conditions requires a considerable commitment. A universally recognized method to reach this purpose is a constant work on one’s own body, which goes through regular physical activity. SPH was born with the intent to provide a valid, all-round tool able to help to improve their daily life through exercise. The application is dedicated to those facing the world of movement for the first time as well as to the most experienced athletes. Introduce yourself to the movement Before undertaking the Wellness path, it is necessary to observe some important precautions. These mainly include the whole series of attentions to avoid injuries or problems that may arise during the hours of movement. First of all, a basic rule of any physical activity is to be always aware of one’s state of health. First and foremost, this means becoming aware of one’s own body, understanding what it is capable of and what its limits are. In particular, it implies paying special attention to those situations of cardiovascular, respiratory or metabolic discomfort, which can often result in unpleasant situations or even cause unwanted damage. If you are unsure, rather than starting physical activity unprepared, it is preferable to consult your doctor. Without security, there cannot be progress. Secondly, in order to achieve a concrete improvement in terms of Wellness, it is necessary not to indulge in those excesses of zeal typical of a physical activity that does not belong to the concept of “wellbeing”, which places its fulcrum around an unnatural search for a performance instead, more similarly to the hectic lifestyle that you might be trying to get away from.

THE STATISTICS OF THE TEAM AT ITS BEST
After coming back from China where he took part to the last event of the World Tour season, Davide Martinelli spoke about this experience with SportPlusHealth. In China I completed a stage race very hard also from a psychological point of view. Usually by the end of October we are already in holiday. Despite this a lot of athletes arrived here in great shape. In World Tour races you can always find numerous champions and the competition level is high even if someone was more tired than usual. In fact the group was reducing in number more easily than during other races. Davide was in China to cover a role which was very important for the final result. “I was there to help Fernando Gaviria. I was the second-last man and I did my job in the best way. I had the same responsibility during the Giro d’Italia, helping Max Richeze and Fernando Gaviria. The outcomes has been very good, with 4 victories and a second place. As you can see from the attached file we put a lot of effort and during the last 200 meters of the stage we made the best performance ever. Even during the hardest stage we worked hard for Alaphilippe, bringing him to the 4th place of the ranking. Another great outcome.” After coming back to Italy the athletes are preparing themselves to rest, but with some shrewdness. “It is true – Martinelli admits – our bodies are used to train very much, up to 22 hours per week. For this reason suddenly interrupt the workouts would be a bad idea. It is better to perform light trainings because the muscles would suffer instead.” After this short period there are 15-18 days of full rest. A good moment for family and friends. Around the 20th they will start back with alternative trainings, like footing and gym. Then from the 20th they move back to bike together with gym. Instead after the 1st of December the bike workouts will be the only activity performed. What is the best way to start over? Three days of gym followed by bike and two days of footing. A total of five days followed by two days of rest. Also from a psychological point of view this is not an hard come back. The effort increases around the 10th of December, when the retreat starts in Spain. The winter is very important to reset the emotions and restore the body. You free your mind, thinking to something different from the bike while doing all those activities impossible to manage during the season. The coach analysis: Analyzing the file from Davide Martinelli, regarding the 6th stage of the Tour of Guangxi, the last event of the season, we see a 168 km track at an average speed of 44 kmh. A very fast stage with an high cadence even if this is the last seasonal effort. The total distance has been covered in 3 hours and 47 minutes. In the last part of the stage we can see a number of fast rythm variations, very complex to manage. These continued until the moment when our athlete took the control of the race with a progression of more than 1100 Watt which hits the group and allows the Quick Step Floors racers to win the stage. We can confirm, as already mentioned, that a good job during the finishing workouts allowed Davide to be ready for the second-last man role, the one bringing the sprinter teammates in front of the group. THE DETAILS: in the last 7 km you can measure an average power of more than 295 Watt and an average speed of 53 kmh. The maximum speed is 65 kmh during the launch phase, when he sustained the highest effort. To confirm how good was this exploit we can look at the heart rate, its peak of 188 ppm and 1162 Watt during the key phase of the race. The end of the race has been very hard because of the continuous sprints and rhythm changes until the last moment. One last note confirming the great physical condition of Davide: once its work was done, he recovered very rapidly until the GPS stop, passing from 188 ppm to 140 in more or less a minute.

#LAVUELTA: THE PHANTOM OF FROOM ENGINE
These days a video of Chris Froome show that the British would have mounted a small engine inside his bicycle. The video can be found at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=66&v=_UNHibTi1wA and within a few hours it has had hundreds of thousands of views that trigger the most disparate reactions. In fact, there are a couple of considerations that need to be made. The stretch in which the shot is taken is downhill and therefore it is normal for the athlete to take speed. At the second 26 of the same video it can be noticed that even a Cannondale knit runner moves in the same thrown spot and without pedaling. A runner like Froome who has built a great career, for which he has won for years, would never risk cheating with that engine. It means ending career and reputation ruined. At a time when it seems to have been returned to the famous witch hunt, where many thermal-camera controls are carried out and the bikes dismantled in surprise inspection, only a madman could have such courage. Now let’s go back to cycling. Tomorrow the 41 km time-trial is waiting for us, and Sky Captain is the number one favorite for the day success and the final standings. Good Vuelta to everyone…

#LAVUELTA: 2 PENALTY WITHOUT GOALKEEPER… BUT THERE’S ALSO THE EXTRATIME
SIERRA NEVADA (SPA): 2 penalty for Chris Froome in this Vuelta Espana. This football metaphor allows us to better understand the opportunity that is presented to him. It begins today with the arrival at Sierra Nevada which has a climb suitable for British characteristics and continues on Tuesday with the 41 km time-trial. Hottest occasions to offset the lead in the overall classification that today is only 55″. Yesterday Vincenzo Nibali, thanks to the 3rd place aboard, managed to recover 4″. Certainly few but a good thing for morale. If today still does not happen anything, there will be the time-trial on Tuesday to make further adjustments to the Spanish race. A slightly wavy and windy path that should provide a further boost to the biggest race specialist. What changes then than usual? Apparently nothing but really so is not. As Astana’s DS, Giuseppe Martinelli, also told us, this time-trial with 5 more stages to run allows racer to change the overall running economy. In time-trial we express our best. In the big races we had here, Giro d’Italia and Tour de France, the time-trial were placed respectively on the last and penultimate day. This meant that in the mountain stages the racers were conditioned by the wait and the specialists could afford to be in attendance in the mountains still having the final bonus of Milan and Marseilles where Domouline and Froome made the difference. And in this Vuelta? The race remains open because with another 5 days to run everything could happen and Vincenzo Nibali is a surely worthy opponent and will not retire from this fight. WHAT WE WILL SEE: Short break in today’s mileage, but a really heavy stage. This is a tantum uphill in the Alcalá la Real – Sierra Nevada, which measures 129.4 km with three uphill, the first two of the first category and the third Especial. For 3172 meters of total altitude and a really high finish line altitude as it reaches at 2,490 meters. In detail the first Gpm will reach at km 74 Alto de Hazallanas, 16.3 km long to 5.5% average slope. Following the Alto of the Purche, which measures 8.5 kilometers to 8% and ending the Sierra Nevada, 19.3 km to 5.6%. Long challenging climbs, to be faced with the heat and the sun, but especially after the fatigues of a second week of racing that was definitely very challenging. #LAVUELTA: WHAT ABOUT FAIRPLAY? NO, A RACE IS A RACE
Chris Frome snorts, misses a gear and sees the chain jumping … then he changes the bicycle and starts again. He put too much energy needing to return in the peloton, so he force on pedals but the low lucidity in the curve makes him fall. The skill, the real one, is to keep the cold blood to be able to regain the mental serenity after the fall and challenge the tension of those who just made a double mistake on live TV. In the end he is the one who has everything to lose as he is the strongest, but he is still in advantage over the opponents in the overall standings, and with a beautiful 40 km crono still to be disputed. “The front wheel slipped and the asphalt was dangerous,” he explains after his arrival. And here the psychological trap hits the opponents who do not have the courage to stick it to the bottom. The race is a serious thing where you should never hide behind the goodness of FairPlay. At that point Nibali and the others should continue their action and trying to gain gap. Also at the Giro d’Italia we witnessed the group’s lost moment after the famous Tom Domoulin country break. The fact remains that the Dutch has won the Giro and his rivals have missed the lead for a few seconds. Today Nibali gains and takes less than a minute, but could do better. Who comes out of as winner today is Alberto Contador who attacks from afar. The Spaniard is not one to sprint at a kilometer from the arrival. He throw in the melee at less than 20 km to do. Sure this is his last season and he wants to leave a great memory. He does not need a placement, he is just looking for the support of his fans who are very crazy in Spain. On this day of the Iberian sun there is another winner, is Polish Tomasz Marczynski who for years has not won but in Vuelta 2017 has centered the target already 2 times. Tomorrow we expect 206 km from Malaga to Seville. The stage should be suitable for sprinters or the hunters. #LAVUELTA: WHAT DOES NIBALI SAY
CALAR ALTO: Someone has seen the stars and it is possible since the arrival of Vuelta was located at the Calar Alto Astronomical Observatory. Vincenzo Nibali tries several times to win this race and he gets really close. He miss just one think to complete the perfect day and gap also Chris Froome that in this Vuelta is the man to defeat launched towards a double victory Tour-Vuelta. Nibali has all the potential even though the Iberian race is still long. Nibali attacks, eyes are those of the tiger. He puts all the power needed to create a gap that never rises over a few dozen meters. In Sicilian grimaces we can see all the fatigue and the effort of those who believe in their actions, not a sprint of 33 rpm. He knows that after a high level Giro finished on the podium now everyone is asking him to win: fans, technicians and sponsors. He is determined and trained to achieve this race. He trusts in his ability so he will wait for a moment of difficulty in Team Sky’s robot. Fromey pursues and then hangs up Nibali while the young Colombian Lopez flies to his champion consecration. He win an astronomical stage and allows the Astana to breathe a sigh of relief, and thus prepare in the best possible way the team after Aru defection who only has to formalize its passage in the UAE Team. The classification is now locked and the hierarchies of Vuelta 2017 are better understood and at the moment the struggle for ultimate success has been reduced to 2 riders. Impressed as high-definition names are slowly loose: Yates, Bardet, Van Garden, and also Barguil’s expulsion from his team. La Vuelta continues with the twelfth stage: 160.1 km from Motril to Antequera that should not cause disturbances in the overall standings.
