#INGIRO STAGE BETWEEN LEGENDS: FROM COPPI TO PANTANI

This stage of the Giro will start from Castellania, the city where is born Fausto Coppi and finish at Oropa Sanctuary, location famous for many beautiful stages. The most beautiful one is perhaps the come back of Marco Pantani in 1999 which start the climb in last position after the famous chain brake. Although the handicap Pantani was able to come back to group and then overtake even the frenchman Laurent Jalabert the last one to surrender. Another historical race in Oropa saw the success of Latvian Piotr Ugrumov, one of the very few who could leave behind Miguel Indurain.

This stage is very short and is clearly made by two parts: the first one is long 120 km absolutely fast and flat that cross the Po Valley and is followed by 11 km of climb with slopes from 7% with an higher of 13% at few chilometers from the arrival.

This year Oropa turn into the Pantani Moutain. 11 km uphill. From the start of the climb to the village of Favaro the slopes will be gentle. In the village of Favaro with porphyry flooring the group will reach the maximum slopes (around 13%). The climb then go on with many curves and a slopes around 9% until the finish line on a straight porphyry.
