JULEN AMEZQUETA: 175 KMS OF BREAKAWAY AT GIRO D’ITALIA

It was the day of Julen Amezqueta, year 1993, who animated together with other three riders the 3rd stage of Giro d’Italia putting on the spotlight one of the characteristics of the Wilier – Southeast’s athletes, the fighting spirit.

After attacking at the 3rd km, Amezqueta achieved two points on the only GPM of the day before getting caught with only 6kms to go. An amazing adventure for a neopro at his first Grand Tour in career.

In the final sprint Manuel Belletti ended in 11th place and Jakub Mareczko wasn’t able to sprint as he had to stop to avoid a fall in the last of the 3 laps of the final circuit.

On tuesday, after the rest day, we will be back on the route with the Catanzaro – Praia a Mare of 200 kms.
