The dongle is an optional device which, once connected to your smartphone, allows the usage of peripherals (eg. HRM, cadence sensors, power meters, ...) that communicate using the ANT+ protocol (instead of the more classic Bluetooth).
Obviously it is not necessary for owners of phones that support this protocol natively, thanks to an internal controller. Unfortunately, this feature is quite rare today.
In all other cases, it is essential to check that your phone has the USB Host feature for the proper functioning of this dongle (from the manufacturer website). You will also need to purchase a USB-OTG cable, which is available on our eshop too, to properly connect the USB dongle to the mini-USB port on the phone.
